Michael Schumacher Center
Michael Schumacher is considered to be the best Formula 1 driver ever.Pretty impressive - he won F1 championship already 6 times. In 2004 was 2nd - still not bad I guess.
He is german, was born in a town between Koeln and Bonn. Close to that place, exactly in Kerpen-Sindorf, there is a Michael Schumacher cart-center. It is here, where few year old Schumacher learnt cart driving.
It is a quite modern hall, with two tracks, equipped with electronic timing register so after the race you get report how good /bad you performed comparing to others.
There is also a shop of Michael Schumacher (everything in red)...
...and his museum. We skipped it though, to focus on racing.
Our team, ready to face carting race.
Getting ready.
Carts.
There are two tracks: out- and indoors.
After 10 minutes of this driving you have a feeling of being very tired and totally wasted. I have no idea how Schumacher stands one-hour races.
Still it was real fun, especially for someone who doesnt have driving licence:)))
Sometimes companies have their team building meetings in this center. Good chance to beat your boss;)

I thought he won it in 2004, i was pretty sure he had finished first from 2000-2004.
Of course I could be wrong, we get a lot more NASCAR here than anything else, except arounf Memorial Day when the Indy 500 takes center stage.
Yes, you are right. Sorry for mistake. He won exactly 7 times: in 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and in 2004.
I read an article where it was sth like this "The 2004 season isn't even over yet and Michael has already taken the championship (his 7th!). He finished 2nd at Spa in Belgium, in Ferrari's 700th race to accumulate enough points to seal the deal."
I misunderstood...uppps

Here what they wrote more "Many people say he is the best ever, but he himself denies any comparison to Fangio of the 50s - the only other driver to achieve five F1 championships. In 1995 Michael became the youngest double Formula 1 World Champion (1994 and 1995 seasons) ever.
Knowing that the skill of the driver plays a big part in winning races, but how open are the rules on the car? Is it restrictive to even the playing field in that manner? How much of a role does a team's money backing have in helping the driver win?
Im not an expert in this field but can imagine how many other things stand behind his success. Still it is quite impressive. Maybe it would be interesting to ask someone from Germany about commercial side of this, I mean if Schumacher is someone like Beckham for England.
btw. here in Poland we have our national sport hero as well. It is Adam Malysz - ski jumper. Although ski jumping seems to be very boring, the whole Poland follows every competition. The guy is modest and shy though what wins polish hearts and is exactly what people adore in him.
