Luminale in Frankfurt

There is often a certain image attached to the place.
Frankfurt is considered to be the most american city in Germany. It is a german financial center, also place of European Central Bank.

However, the image can be changed...

I had a chance to be in Frankfurt during Luminale 2004.
It is a project about putting some artistic lights in the city:)
Different artists were invited to place light installations in different places in Frankfurt (in museums, companies buildings, along the river, on bridges, squares and so on....)
Looked beautiful.

Panorama of Frankfurt.

Central railway station. The colours were changing.

Roemer - on the main square. Three colours: red, white and blue symbolised collaboration with France. At the same time french city Lyon had the same project and president of Lyon came to Frankfurt for a visit.
So as you see this light project was even politically correct ;)

Installation with light, movement and music in Messe.

Three museums with the same light motive.

The companies building. The lights were changing colours.

Museum with changing light images.

View under the bridge.

Picture taken from the bus.

Makes me want to visit Frankfurt. The photo of the city under the bridge is my favorite.

Great! I was stationed in Frankfurt with the US Army from 1962-64! My, how it has changed since then. I visited the city again in 1992 and then in 1994! My how it changed, and how beautiful it is today compared with the 1960s. I could live in Frankfurt today, though when I was a GI there I didn't care for it.
